IBM TS2900 Tape Autoloader (machine type 3572) is an entry-level, compact 1U tape autoloader designed to offer IBM tape reliability, density, and performance for entry-level and compact tape libraries at a cost-effective price.

With a capacity of nine cartridges and employing patented IBM HD slot technology, the TS2900 Tape Autoloader is a rack-mountable unit that contains either a single IBM LTO Ultrium 8 HH SAS Tape Drive (Model S8H), an IBM LTO Ultrium 7 HH SAS Tape Drive (Model S7H), or an IBM LTO Ultrium 6 HH SAS Tape Drive (Model S6H) in a 1U form factor height.

TS2900 is equipped with standard features that provide convenient and secure data backup. Web-based remote management, a bar code reader, and a removable tape magazine help provide ease of use. TS2900 can be used in a rack system or on a desktop next to a server in an office.

These types of features help reduce the amount of required IT personnel, as well as help centralize backups in the data center. TS2900 is also designed to support the encryption of sensitive user data in combination with half-height LTO Ultrium 8, 7, 6, or 5 tape technology.

With a 6 Gbps SAS interface, TS2900 is supported on IBM Power Systems, Intel, and other open system server platforms.
