Simply put, Safeguarded Copy is a feature that’s already baked into most IBM storage subsystems that gives users immutable (cyber-resilient) point-in-time backups of business-critical data that cannot be changed or deleted through user errors, malicious actions, or ransomware attacks.
This type of backup is vital to any business today that wants to protect itself from becoming the victim of a successful ransomware attack. Users can quickly recover data from immutable Safeguarded copies if a cyberattack occurs.
GETTING READY FOR SAFEGUARDED COPY
The prerequisites for IBM Safeguarded Copy vary depending on your IBM storage sub-systems, expansions, and software. Covenco will complete an analysis and planning study to determine if your system meets the foundation and capacity requirements to enable this feature.
Safeguarded Copy requires space to store and reinflate copies, so additional storage capacity may be required*, and that amount would be determined by the Frequency of Copies, Retention Policies and Data Change rate. Our assessment takes a full day of specialist analysis and reporting.
