The Dell Poweredge R540 is a 2U dual socket box with either 8 or 12 3.5” hard drives back on the main backplane and the option of an additional 2 x 3.5” drive bays on the rear of the server.

Option to free up internal storage with boot-optimized M.2 SSDs. Up to 20 cores per CPU and a maximum memory capacity of 1TB.

The R540 runs using Intel’s range of bronze (31xx), silver (41xx), and gold (51xx) or (61xx) processors. This gives the user a wide range of choices when it comes to choosing processor speed and cores.
