Covenco Summer Customer Events, 2023

This year we have had the pleasure of hosting our wonderful customers at not one, but two summer events!

Our annual Customer Days are designed to give back to our valued customers. They also allow us to give updates on our company roadmap, as well as provide key service and vendor updates. This year we had lots to inform our customers about, following the recent company merger of Covenco UK & Covenco365, and days like these help us to get the message across to our customers and partners from all aspects of the business, face-to-face. The open floor meetings allow for important discussions to flow freely between customers and vendors, ensuring that everyone gets the best out of the day and take away important learnings that can be put into practice in their working environment.

The main topic of the meetings was Ransomware Data Protection, and our partners were there to demonstrate to our customers not only how to be best prepared for the worst to happen but if an attack was to hit them, how they can be in a position to recover quickly and stress-free. Our partners who supported this year’s event were:

Veeam

Paul Schlieze and Luca Dell’Oca presented us with Securing your Business with Veeam Data Protection. They discussed how Veeam can help customers modernise their backup and recovery strategy to meet SLA’s, protect them from ransomware, and orchestrate recovery in the case of an outage or attack.

IBM

Ian Shave and Roger Holbrook delivered a great piece on IBM storage for Data Resiliency. Including, how IBM Storage Defender can understand business blind spots, defend your data with immutable copies and ultimately protect customers from ransomware.

Nettitude

Adrian Shaw showcased a real-life case study on how Nettitude implemented Incident Response to an organisation that was overrun with ransomware. The eye-opening session was delivered showing a timeline of events, from when the customer was exposed to ransomware up until Nettitude engaged with them to start the recovery process.

Zadara

Steve Costigan’s presentation focused on the Zadara platform and its capabilities to protect organisations’ digital assets. It tied together how Zadara, Covenco & Veeam work alongside each other to provide the ultimate ransomware mitigation.

Now the fun part …

The first event of the summer was held at the idyllic Catton Hall Shooting Ground in Cheshire on the 8th of June. The weather was well and truly on our side for the day with glorious sunshine out for us all day, which was perfect for the BBQ lunch and afternoon activities of Archery, Clay Pigeon and Air Rifle Target Shooting. The instructions from the team at Catton Hall were exemplary, and everyone really got stuck into each event.

The target shooting proved to be a technical challenge for most, while archery presented opportunities in both accuracy and coordination. The clay pigeon instructors were local experts with huge experience and enthusiasm, which was reflected in the high scores from many of the participants – including some that had never tried shooting before. The participants all enjoyed the activities, with some promising to take up new hobbies.

Catton Hall Winners included:

Archery:  Clive Walton

Target Shooting: John Morgan

Clay Pigeon Shooting: John Morgan

The second event was held at the fantastic Mercedes-Benz World, Surrey on the 22nd of June. The morning session kicked off with presentations from Covenco and IBM, this was followed by a spin in the impressive AMG cars, around the handling tracks. The sun came out just in time for a delicious rooftop BBQ, before heading back inside for the afternoon meetings with Veeam, Nettitude, and Zadara.

The day was finished off in style in the F1 Simulator Zone, where everyone got into the competitive spirit to get the fastest lap on the Austrian Gran Prix course. Congratulations to the podium winners, who were:

1st Place: Ross Cownley

2nd Luca Dell’Oca

3rd John Hunter
